What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program to help improve student achievement.  Robbinsville Elementary qualifies as a school wide Title I school, which means that services can be provided for all students.  This enables Title I to purchase supplies and materials to be used by all students.

What does Title I do?

Title I supports classroom instruction by providing resources and materials to teachers.

Monthly Literacy Projects

  • To support classroom reading instruction
  • To extend and refine reading skills
  •  To provide practice using skills in a group activity
  • To foster a sense of grade-level community
  • To instill in students a love for reading
  • To encourage parent involvement in literacy

Summer Reading Program

GOALS

  • To minimize summer reading loss
  • To place books in homes during the summer
  • To build a sense of community within each grade level
  • To support classroom reading instruction

 

 Reader's Theater Festival

GOALS

  • To build fluency in reading
  • To explore the literature of native peoples with emphasis on Cherokee stories and legends
  • To promote cooperative peer interaction among students 
 
Rock 'n' Read

GOALS

  • To foster in students a love of books and reading
  • To place books in the homes of all students
  • To provide a multi-age experience
  • To encourage parent involvement
  • To promote family literacy
  • To have fun!!

  • To promote and encourage student writing
  • To showcase literary and artistic talent of students
  • To encourage parent and community involvement
  • To support classroom writing instruction
  • To address an area for improvement in School Improvement Plan
